WHAT IS HCG?hcg.jpg

HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is a natural hormone that is produced in large quantities during pregnancy to ensure proper nutrients to the developing baby. It can be used as treatment for infertility in both men and women at dosages of 5,000 – 10,000 IU per injection. It can also be used at smaller regular doses to release abnormal fat when used in conjunction with a specific 500 calorie per day diet. The original protocol and research were established by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons. His detailed original manuscript is called Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity. Dr. Simeons spent 30 years studying the obese population in order to formulate this protocol. This low calorie diet is only advisable with HCG. Dr. Simeons’ research demonstrated that HCG triggers the hypothalamus to mobilize stored fat into the blood stream which can be used as “fuel”. It is, therefore, believed to reset your metabolism, protect your body’s “good fat” and keep muscle tissue from breaking down (which can occur in other low calorie diets).

CAUSES OF OBESITY

UNDERSTANDING THE THREE KINDS OF FAT

In the human body there are three types of fat:

  1. Structural fat (good and necessary):
    • This is the fat which fills the gaps between various organs. It is also responsible for smooth and taut skin, cushions the bones, and protects various organs.
  2. Dynamic fat (our reserve fat fuel “checking account”):
    • This is a normal reserve of fuel which the body can freely draw when the nutritional “income” from the intestinal tract is insufficient to meet the demand. These reserves are located throughout the body. Fat as a fuel source has the highest caloric value and therefore, this type of fuel is used for muscle activity and the maintenance of body temperature.
  3. Static fat (“bad fat” or “warehouse fat”; the source of obesity):
    • This type of fat is abnormal and is not available to the body. It is dead weight and will sit in the body’s warehouse forever.

Unfortunately, it is assumed that obese individuals are overweight because they eat too much or move too little. Though good nutrition and exercise are important to our overall health, this just isn’t the case. It is now felt that obesity is secondary to a hypothalamic dysfunction. The hypothalamus (located in the center of the brain) controls the complex operation of storing and issuing fuel to the body – particularly sugar. When this center is destroyed in laboratory animals, they develop a voracious appetite and rapidly gain weight.

HOW DOES HCG WORK?

The brain’s hypothalamus monitors and controls the movement of fat in our body and is responsible for the excess “fat warehouse” function. HCG activates the abnormal fat back into circulation where it can be consumed by the body at an average rate of a pound per day. In other words, it allows for steady and rapid consumption of the “warehouse fat”. This release of the “warehouse fat” is why patients taking HCG are not hungry. HCG actually releases 1500-4000 calories per day into the bloodstream. This is the only reason why it is OK to be on a 500 calorie per day diet. Without HCG releasing the abnormal fat ( and therefore hundreds to thousands of calories into the bloodstream), the patient would be starving and facing excess nutritional deficiency. The protocol also provides a detox and gives your entire system rest from the onslaught of food and drink by allowing only a small amount of relatively healthy items to be processed in your body and your hypothalamus to clear itself of the chemical build-up that could be preventing weight loss and re-establishes the natural functioning and hormone release of the hypothalamus.

POSITIVE EFFECTS OF HCG

  • Better sleep
  • Lower cholesterol & blood pressure
  • Decreased dosages needed for prescription medications such as insulin, cholesterol & diabetes medications
  • Improved energy levels
  • Improved symptoms of fibromyalgia & arthritis
  • Decreased symptoms of depression
  • Improved self confidence
  • Softer skin & resolution of brittle nails
  • Decreased PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) symptoms
  • Average weight loss for up to ½-1 pound per day
  • Decreased hunger
  • Loss of excess/abnormal stores of muscle or structural fat

WHY THE 500 CALORIE DIET?

Patients are on a 500 calorie per day diet because HCG is also releasing 1500 – 4000 calories from abnormal fat into the bloodstream each day. Thus, with the 500 calorie you are consuming plus the 1500 – 4000 calories being released into the system, you are actually getting the benefit of (500+1500-4000)= 2000 – 4500 calories each day.
